For years we've been reading about a patch of garbage the size of Texas floating in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, ingeniously dubbed the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Basically, any trash that gets dumped in the water rides the currents to this one spot and joins an ever-increasing flotilla of crap. For all the breathless accounts of the mess and its impact on the area's sealife, however, no one seemed to have a picture of the buildup.

In order to sate our own curiosity, VBS joined the crew of a research vessel studying the trash and sailed out into one of the most remote spots of open water in the world, the North Pacific Gyre, in search of this mythical garbage island. What we discovered once we got there was an ecological disaster beyond any of our expectations and possibly the single worst thing human beings have done to the planet and ourselves. WE really don't do that.
It's just these huge corporations run by groups of a few hundred men. And then of course everyone being fucking stupid and accepting the bullshit. WE don't use our genius for war THEY do. And THEY have basically caused the world to go in the direction it has, like our race. Did Native Americans act as virus'? Or any tribal group?
No. they're manipulation of nature was at least somewhat symbiotic.

I've been thinking for months now about how to clean this thing up. Since most of the plastics are very small, I was thinking that someone makes a giant net, such as the ones you use for your pool, but multiple giant ones. Those things will catch ANYTHING. Send ships out there and clean the shit up. My plan is probably flawed in some way, so I need you all to keep thinking of ways to clean it up, it IS possible, anything is possible. We WILL clean it up, and we WILL figure out a solution.
