Miles davis et John Coltrane - So what

Back

- Miles Davis and John Coltrane play one of the best renditions of SO WHAT ever captured on film-Live in 1958. Edit : in fact, was in New York, april 2, 1959. Recorded by CBS producer Robert Herridge. Cannonball Adderley had a migrane and was absent from the session. Wynton Kelly played piano--he was the regular band member at this time--but Bill Evans had played on the original recording of "So What" on March 2, 1959. The other musicians seen in the film were part of the Gil Evans Orchestra, who performed selections from "Miles Ahead". Jimmy Cobb on drums.

How can that be Keith Jarret? Jarret had to be about eight years old at the time! Wow man you have no idea of the dates and evolution of this music. Jarret startd playing with Davis in his early twenties in the early seventies...this is 1959!
You have no clue what you're watching or who's playing!?

Genius...the incredible music, the shots of Miles, Trane watching in the wings...the whole nine. This is as good as it gets, with better solos that the original recording! Without Evans at the piano, the tempo, the whole take has a different color...cool and funky. How much do you love Chambers and Cobb!? Man Miles and his genius, picking the bands, the songs, the solos, there will never ever be another Miles Davis! With that killer Trane solo!! I just love this video...thank you for sharing it!

Is there Keith Jarret aside watchin'em playing..? Am I wrong?

Pretty much. I tried to meet him in the 80's when he returned to playing. My CBS Records rep at the time said "You might want to meet him but he doesn't want to meet you". I've not heard of too many folks in the biz that had good experiences with him.

i've heard that he has been a victim of racism, so he started to be more angry with people

I grew up listening to old records of John Coltrane and Miles Davis... this brings back memories of my childhood. Thanks for putting this up.
