World champion big wave surfers, Garrett McNamara and Kealii Mamala rode into surfing history last week when they towed into a monster tsunami created by Child's Glacier in South-Central Alaska.

The creator/producer, Ryan Casey, "disovered" the wave in 1995, while on location shooting in Alaska. Then after finishing his last film, Quest, a documentary on big wave surfing, he showed Garrett the wave... that was six months ago. So after a short scout in June, we went up in August to film this...

By the way, look how small those guys look compared to the front of that glacier! keep in mind, the top of that ice rises approx "300 ft" from the river in size! You ignorant fucks!

go get the pororoca in NOTHERN Brazil...warm water, you know the date and time it will happen, wave is 40 min (MINUTES!) long, no crowd, and CHEAP!!!

brainless, how often do glaciers break off like this? first of all, its not often enough that you can just sit there a while, and then ride a wave. its totally unpredictable, even if they could actually do it. second of all, how the hell do you know which section is going to break off and therefore where to wait for the wave? morons. it is fake.

mardigrasmambos! You ignorant fuck! I live here in Cordova alaska, where this glacier is! It is called childs glacier,about 50 miles outside of town! This glacier breaks off into the copper river, I was their that day, it happened! Second, you don't know when it is going to break off! Third, the guy surfing is one of the best surfers in the world from Hawaii! People like you, make me realize just how ignorant some fucks like you are! You ignorant fuck! It happened! Deal with it,pussy!!!!!!!!!!!!
